The Double Bounce Rule states that after the serve, the receiving team must let the ball bounce once, and the serving team must also let the ball bounce once before striking it. After those two bounces, players may choose to volley the ball (hit it in the air) or hit it after a bounce, as long as they are not standing in the Non-Volley Zone (Kitchen).
